Virtual to physical dissimilar hardware image restores
When planning a migration from a virtual server environment to physical server, remember to remove any virtual server tools from the guest server prior to creating the image backup.
When you restore a virtual server image to physical hardware without doing this first, there is a high probability that the virtual tools/driver(s) will interfere with the new hardware.
Not performing this step may create a scenario where the newly restored system will not boot without BSOD.
NOTE: The same guidelines apply when migrating from one virtual platform to another. (Example - moving from Hyper-V to VMWare)
