Default Mailbox Folder Restore 8.1

I have been trying to restore a users mailbox folder after it was accidently deleted.
During trying to restore it multiple times, using either the PST method or directly into the users Exchange mailbox and getting errors (Error 1700, unable to logon to mailbox) I was finally able to somehow get a PST file created.
But the PST file is over 2 GB (which is maybe why it was failing to begin with) and it is not a Unicode pst file and thus cannot be opened by Outlook 2002.
Can I upgrade my outlook on this machine to 2003 and get a unicode pst file created?
What is the folder size limits when restoring a folder?

Thanks,

Chips

Hi Chips,
For this issue, i would recommend calling in so that one of our techs can walk you through the restore process.
Attempting this from a newer version of outlook may help, but the logon error would have to do with permissions to the individual mailbox for the account you are logged into windows and performing the restore with.
