Default Locked File Backup Agent

We recently discovered this feature and would like to know a little more about it than is covered in the knowledge base article.

We have some pst files and some .mdb files that come back locked but we're not sure what freezing does. Will it interupt a session if someone is actively working on the file? How does it handle that occurance, if you can explain that, I know it may be rather technical.

If there is more information on Freeze all Drives?

Thanks I really all the help available here. You do a great job with the forums.

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

More information can be found here:
http://www.ultrabac.com/kb/locked_file_backup_agent.htm

How it works, is we load a driver at the time of windows start up. It is at the disk Filter level (alot like antivirus) So when you do a backup, i filters the changes that would have gone to the hard drive, and places them in a "cache" area. At the end of the backup, it then applies the changes to the hard drive.

It does not interfere with any other running software.

If you have any questions please let me know.
