Default v8.3.0 and VSS

I have recently upgraded from UltraBac v8.1.2 to v8.3.0 and I have a LFB license on 4 fully patched W2K3 R2 SP2 servers. In v8.3.0 LFB "calls" Microsoft's VSS unless you choose not to. This works OK on two of my servers, but the call fails on the other two. If I revert to "the old ways" by de-selecting the use of VSS it works without problems. I'm not claiming, that this is necessarily an UltraBac problem, but I'm looking for a way to test my servers in order to find the reason why UltraBac's VSS call goes bad. To be honest, I simply don't know where to look !

Hi Werner,

UltraBac 8.3 Should be able to use both VSS and Our driver for locked file backups. Can i have you contact our support team at 425-644-6000 or at support@UltraBac.com, so we can further trouble shoot this with you.

Thanks!

Hi Derek,
I already "discussed" this problem in some detail with David Conlon, but I'm sorry to say nothing usefull resulted. Do you want me top contact support again? Due to the time difference, I think that e-mail is more practical

Default New v 8.30 ?

Hi,

I was recently told to "downgrade" to v8.22 because of eminent VSS problems when using v8.3.0. I was told that there would soon be an improved v8.3.0 ready in which the VSS problems would be fixed !

Any news ?
