Default UltraBac 8.3.1 Exit code on Windows Server 2008

I am using a system call to spawn UltraBac (UB.exe) for backups. I have noticed that when I spawn UltraBac on Windows Server 2008 64 bit, I get an exit code of 1070 even though the UltraBac logs show 0 errors and 0 warnings for backup and verification. When I run the same process on XP, I get a return code of 0. Should I be getting a 1070 when everything runs correctly on Server 2008? Or should I be spawning UltraBac differently on Windows Server 2008? Thanks in advance for any help.

Has anyone had any experience spawning UltraBac 8.3 on Windows Server 2008 64 bit? If so, are you getting the correct exit code? Are you using a system call or createprocess? Thanks.

Is this 2008 r2?

If so, you will need to use version 9.1 (or newer)

Hi!

To avoid opening a new thread, I'd like to understand what the 1070 return code means?

Today we are running v9.2.0 on Windows Server 2008 R2, we write our backups on file servers over the network, and UB.EXE returns 1070 (i.e. when creating a Full Backup of one volume).
Moreover, after creating a similar backup using "UBUI.EXE", then the "UB.EXE" starts returning 0 instead of 1070.

To sum up, would you please be so kind to explain us what that 1070 return code is?

Thanks ;-)

I am unfamiliar with that specific one. For this issue I would recommend upgrading to 9.2.2 and I would ask that you call in to our support department so that we can have a closer look at this issue. We can be reached at 425.644.6000 or at 1-800-554-8562.

Default Possible Cause of 1070 Return Code

Hi there!

Finally we found why UB.EXE keeps exiting with the "1070" code: there is a Registry Value which is set by the GUI, but not by the command-line tool.

Code:
Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\UltraBac Software\UltraBac\DeviceInfo\Win32 File Device
Value: BackupPath0 Size Limit
Type: REG_DWORD
Data: 0 (default)
So, if you guys never run the GUI on your systems, and write your backups as we do (using the Win32 File Device), then you'll need to create that extra Registry Value.
Result is immediate, no need to restart anything (system or service).

Kind Regards,
Gregory
