Default Linux Agent Install Guide

Linux Based Installations.

Please note: This will only work on 32bit Linux distributions that use the ext2 and ext3 file systems. Alternatively you can use the file by file agent and backup the system via samba share.

The Linux Agent packages are saved in the "UxAgents" folder by default:

C:\Program Files\UltraBac Software\UltraBac\UxAgents\Linux

There will be two packages Listed:

ubux-2.31-linux.tar.gz
ubuxagentd-2.3-1.i386.rpm

ubux-2.31-linux.tar.gz Setup and Configuration Instructions

You will need to transfer the ubux-2.31-linux.tar.gz file to your linux machine. The easiest way to accomplish this is to use ftp.

Log on to the Linux machine as the "Root" user.

Once you have transferred the file, log on to the Linux machine as the "Root" user.

Then explore to the /opt folder.

You will need to make an "ultrabac" folder. To do this type: mkdir ultrabac

Explore to where you saved the UltraBac installer, then move the file to /opt/ultrabac

To do this type: mv ubux-2.31-linux.tar.gz /opt/ultrabac

Then explore to /opt/ultrabac/

You will need to uncompress the UltraBac installer.

To do this type tar -zxvf ubux-2.31-linux.tar.gz

To run the installer you type: ./install.sh

The installer will run, and then a message will appear telling you to do two things: 1) setup a password 2) restart the INETD services.

To setup the password type: ./ubuxpwd -i

It will prompt you to enter a password. **Important** You must put in the same password as you use for your Root User.

Once this has been done we must now restart the XINETD services.

To do this type: service xinetd restart

Now the Linux agent is installed.
