Question Differential Restore ?

Suppose you have a Full Backup at the beginning of the month and then a weekly "Differential" one.

I want to restore all of my data folder, to a different server, to the status it was at the beginning of the third week.

I know I need to restore the Full Backup and then the 2nd week Differential, but when I do that I can also find some folders that were deleted during the first week of the month: after the restore, I have more files than there were on the main server (because deleted folders and files are not removed)

Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or this is the way the "Differential" backup is supposed to work?

Thanks,
QGLF

Hi,

This is the way differential restores work. When we do a differential backup, we search for files that have the archive bit set, and then back them up. UltraBac does not keep track of any deleted files from the time the full backup ran to when the differential backup was ran.

I hope this helps!
