Default Ubdr Gold P2v

I am new to using UBDR Gold and wanting to use it to create P2V images. I have successfully created backup images but now struggle to figure out how to use these images to restore to P2V files (Microsoft Virtual server uses VDK files and VMWare VMDK)
Can the restore process create Microsoft VDK files ?
When I boot up with UBDR Gold and select the backed up images to restore, I then also select the P2V option, but it does not work. Several errors appear. I need to understand how the P2V process will get me to VDK files.
Thanks.
Rob

Hi Falcon,

To do a restore with UBDR Gold to a vmware / Virtual server, You first have to create a new "virtual machine". In vmware you must select the correct os that you are going to restore.

When making the virtual machine, make sure you have enough diskspace allocated to hold the size of the original partitions. Then have the virtual machine boot off of the UBDR Gold cd or .Iso file. Then proceed to restore the backup as if this was a physical machine.

Default Now I Get It !!

Thank you Derek !
Now that makes sense. I understand what you mean I will try it out.
Many thanks for your response. This method is not explained in the UBDR Gold documentation at all. Cheers, Rob
